Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday’s!

The holiday’s are such a wonderful time of the year,
and its such a pleasure to spend those  days with our River
Hills Family out in the hunting field.  As a reminder, November
30th through December 13th we will not being hunting due
to the ‘rifle’ deer hunting season. After that the River Hills
Foxhounds will be back in action! Another reminder as you’re
out hunting be aware of the new guys; Ivan, Indy, Iceman,
Isaac, and the little girl Izzy. The puppies are usually marked
with a red or blue, reflector collar. If puppies come near your
horse please use your voice, and say ‘Ware Horse’ and/or let
your whip dangle to the ground so they know to steer clear
of horses legs. An update on the October 17th puppies,
Jacob, Jessie, Joaquin, Journey and Jewels, they are happy,
healthy, finally mobile and running around the kennel yard.

As many of you know River Hills prepares Christmas
‘Thank You’ Bags for the landowners as a special thanks for
their support and generosity in letting us hunt across their
land. It is so easy to take for granite the open places that we
hunt and it is sometime easy to forget the hard work that it
takes to keep hunting ground open. Around the Holidays we
will be going around to meet with landowners again, express
our many thanks, and drop off fruit bags; graciously provided
with a beautiful fox hunting scene by Mrs. Helen Stapleton,
and we will prepare the bags by filling them with oranges,
grapefruits, clementines, and topped off with a bag of chips
generously donated by Herr Foods. Apart from membership
subscriptions, donations from the ‘Christmas Cap’ help to
support our Christmas ’Thank You’ Bags.

It is our duty as fox hunters to ensure we keep open
relationships for hunting spaces for future generations. New
puppies ensure the River Hills Foxhounds brings new blood
and new faces, new members, along with bringing young
children help to educate more people about fox hunting
and the traditions of our sport. Again we cannot help but
stress that it is your financial support that help to keep the
River Hills Foxhounds flourishing in the winter months as we
head into 2010.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays
       from the River Hills Foxhounds!

River Hills Foxhounds
‘Christmas Cap’

It is at this time of year that we ask our
members to help us out with a donation in
the form of a ‘Christmas Cap’.
The hound stalls are bedded up with hay,
the heat lamps are on during those extra
chilly nights, the warm milk from our local
Amish neighbors is picked up daily, and the
hounds rest up to make ready  for the days
hunt. Special care of the hounds make
certain that they  are fit and healthy in
these next few months as they head out to
find us  the wily little fox we so readily wait
to catch a glimpse of. In preparation we
ask your support in the form of the ’
Christmas Cap’ to  help us out the winter
months ahead. Your ‘Christmas Cap’ goes
to help  support the River Hills Foxhounds
and assist the generosity  and good will of
our landowners with the aid in cutting the
costs of the Christmas ‘Thank You’ Bags.

We have greatly appreciated everyone’s
support in the past in helping to make our
‘Thank You’ Bags such a great success!
